The Times of Israel reported that Tel Aviv had warned “that it might carry out strikes on Beirut airport to thwart Iranian arms smuggling.”

The newspaper confirmed that Israel is investigating Iran’s attempt to establish a corridor for smuggling weapons through civilian flights to Beirut airport, using the Iranian Miraj Airlines.

The newspaper added that Tehran is trying to use the new smuggling corridor after Israel thwarted Iranian arms transfers via Damascus.

Lebanese Interior Minister Bassam Mawlawi denied news that the Iranian “Miraj” airline had transferred weapons to the “Hezbollah” militia via Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut.

Mawlawi added, “The airport security service is aware of everything that enters and leaves Lebanon.”
