During a shooting at a house party in Chico, California, a 17-year-old girl was killed and five others were injured, according to the local police.
Police Chief Billy Aldridge stated that officers were initially dispatched to a large party on Columbus Avenue, just blocks from the California State University, Chico campus, after residents heard gunfire inside a residence.
According to him, the police discovered that a fight had taken place at the party, and the suspect was asked to leave before the officers arrived. Two people were taken to the hospital after reports of physical abuse.
An incident occurred at 3 a.m. local time at another party on Columbus Avenue, where a gun was reported to be brandished.
In less than half an hour, the police were called to the Columbus Street party again, where it was discovered that six people had been shot, one of whom had died as a result of the shooting.
According to the police, the victim was a 17-year-old girl, and some of the injured were taken to a hospital. It should be noted, however, that the investigation is still in its infancy.
It was stated by Aldridge that the incident was “isolated” and that there was no “continuous threat” to public order.
