A witness video captures the moment gunfire erupted in the Allen Premium Outlets parking lot in Texas as terrified shoppers scrambled behind rows of cars and some ran across the lot.

Employees, customers, and families with young children fled the large building and took cover in storage areas or back hallways, according to witnesses who spoke to CNN.

In the upscale suburb of Allen, about 25 miles north of Dallas, eight people had died by the time the horrific spree came to an end, and at least seven more had been injured.

An Allen Police Department officer who was in the mall for a different call shot and killed the shooter, according to the authorities. Investigators are of the opinion that the shooter acted alone.

A picture appears to show the shooter wounded and laying on the ground next to an AR-15-style weapon. He’s covered in black body armor, and it looks like he has a number of additional magazines fastened to his chest armor.

According to Allen Fire Chief Jonathan Boyd, at least nine people were sent to trauma centers, two of whom have now passed away. According to him, as of Saturday night, three of the survivors were in serious condition and awaiting surgery, while four others were stable.

A medical facility in the Dallas region claimed to have treated patients as young as 5 years old.

Kingsley Ezeh, a witness, claimed that as he was moving forward in the mall, people behind him started to run.

“When I turned around, I saw two women rushing in my direction, and one of them exclaimed, “Someone’s shooting! He yelled, “Someone’s shooting.

Ezeh claimed he could make out a man grasping his neck while “blood (was) just dripping down” behind the running women.

Before police arrived to rescue them, Ezeh and other people gathered in a store’s rear for about an hour, he claimed. Other witnesses said they stayed inside for up to two hours as police cleaned up the area.

As they were led away from the site, hundreds of customers were seen on aerial video weaving among police cars and ambulances, some of whom had their hands raised. The video also appears to show at least three bodies outside the mall that are draped in sheets.
