Trump’s trial: developments

At a landmark hearing held in Manhattan Court in New York, former President Donald Trump pleaded not guilty to all criminal charges against him relating to the payment of money to buy the silence of a pornographic actress ahead of the 2016 presidential election.

There are 34 charges against the 76-year-old Trump in this case, which could have a significant impact on the 2024 presidential election.

After that, the former president left the Manhattan court building after his release.

ABC News had reported that the former US president’s fingerprints were taken, adding that he was treated as a criminal suspect, inside the Manhattan court.

The network added that the Manhattan Attorney General accused Trump of “conspiracy”, and after that, the former president was seen leaving the Manhattan courtroom.

The former US president was handed over to the authorities, on Tuesday, in a Manhattan court, ahead of criminal charges stemming from an attempt to pay money to silence a pornographic actress during his 2016 campaign.

Trump appeared, dressed in his famous dark suit and red tie, waving to the crowds in front of the building before entering the courthouse to be fingerprinted and registered in an unusual historic moment in American history.

Trump arrived at the courthouse in an 8-car convoy that took him from Trump Tower in midtown Manhattan across the freeway into the city’s eastern part.

On the way, Trump wrote a post on his media platform, saying, “Heading to Lower Manhattan, Courthouse, It Sounds Unreal – They’ll Get Me! I Can’t Believe This Is Happening In America, Make America Great Again!”

It is noteworthy that Trump, who was impeached by the House of Representatives twice but was never convicted in the Senate, is the first former US president to face criminal charges.
