Best Android Phones in 2023
Although Apple’s iPhone may receive the majority of the attention, Android has many benefits. The sheer number of gadgets available is one of the main ones. Android phones come in a large variety of shapes and sizes, ranging from the enormous Galaxy S23 Ultra to the more understated and inexpensive Pixel 6A.
But it might be challenging to choose which phones are worth your hard-earned money with such a vast range available. We’ve tried and analyzed all the top Android phones available in 2023, so if you’re not sure where to start, you’re in the correct place.
A great phone should support 5G, have excellent cameras, a long battery life, and interesting software features.
Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra
Best premium Android phone
Like:
- Fast performance
- Excellent main camera
- Bright screen
- Included stylus
- Double the storage in the base model
- Four generations of Android OS updates.
Don’t like:
- High price
- Photos don’t always look natural
- No improvements to fast charging.
The Galaxy S23 has a lot of good qualities. Even if it has more features than most people require in a phone, it is nevertheless amazing. With the same edgy style and enormous 6.8-inch screen as its predecessor, Samsung improved the camera’s resolution (200 megapixels compared with 108 megapixels), color tones, and dynamic range. Additionally, the Galaxy S22 Ultra can be outperformed by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 CPU, which has been tailored exclusively for Samsung’s smartphones.
Given that it starts at $1,200, calling this phone costly may be an understatement. Nonetheless, those prepared to spend more for a big screen and a top-notch, adaptable camera won’t be let down.
Google Pixel 7 Pro
Google’s best gets better
• Refreshed design looks great • Superb cameras • Clean and enjoyable interface.
Don’t like:
• Battery life could be better
The great Pixel 6 Pro Google released last year hasn’t undergone a significant upgrade in the Pixel 7 Pro, Google’s newest top device. Yet Apple has taken that successful recipe and made important adjustments to nearly every component, producing a fantastic phone that is a pleasure to use.
The updated camera can also produce beautiful shots, earning it a place among the top flagship phones available. Although it usually costs $899, Google is presently discounting it by $150. Read our review of the Google Pixel 7 Pro.
Google Pixel 7
Best Android phone under $600
Don’t like:
• Battery life is good but not great
• Not as much Android version support as Samsung.
The Google Pixel 7 is an excellent way to carry some of Google’s top technology without breaking the bank at a price point of roughly $600. It is somewhat less expensive than the fully equipped 7 Pro model, but it still has the same Tensor G2 processing, a gorgeous screen, and an excellent main camera.
Like the 7 Pro, it’s received a redesigned design that looks sophisticated and stylish, while its Android 13 software is clutter-free and easy to use. Although the battery life could be improved, with judicious use, you can go a day without needing to recharge. The original Pixel 7 is a terrific choice if you’re looking for a reliable everyday phone at a fair price. It misses the telephoto zoom and a few of the other bells and whistles of the 7 Pro.
Samsung Galaxy S23
Best small phone
Like:
- Longer battery life
- Attractive design
- Four generations of Android OS updates
- Fast performance.
- Cameras are basically the same as last year
- Expensive
- No improvements to fast charging
- No upgrade to base storage.
There aren’t many options available for Android users who want a small phone. But for those who prefer a phone that seems small but still has enough screen area, the 6.1-inch Galaxy S23 offers an appealing option.
The Galaxy S23 includes standard updates including a new chipset (a customized version of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Samsung’s phones), a slightly updated look, and a higher-resolution selfie camera. But what makes the Galaxy S23 worthwhile to suggest is its larger battery. Read our complete Galaxy S23 review.
Google Pixel 6A
Best camera for its price
Don’t like:
• No wireless charging
OnePlus 11
High-performance flagship with a lower price
Like:
- Incredible performance for gaming
- Slick, refreshed design
- Hyper-fast charging
- Five years of security support
Don’t like:
- The cameras are good but not great
- Better waterproofing on rivals.
The powerful OnePlus 11 costs $700 and is ideally suited for routine chores like streaming video and playing games. This phone is also less expensive than the $900 Pixel 7 Pro and the $800 Galaxy S23, in classic OnePlus fashion. Although the cameras aren’t the best, they work just enough for amateur photographers who want to record their next trip or night out.
The OnePlus 11’s rapid 100-watt fast charging, which can recharge the battery in just 25 minutes, sets it apart from many of its competitors. (The US version only supports 80-watt charging, but that’s still an upgrade over the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s 45-watt charge).
Overall, the OnePlus 11 is ideal for people who want a powerful phone that charges quickly and won’t break the bank. Read our full review of the OnePlus 11.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4
The best folding phone
Foldable phones are still mostly beyond of reach the average consumer; they are only available to those who are ready to shell out the top price for the newest in mobile technology. The greatest folding phone available is Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 4, which offers excellent performance, a fantastic camera system, and several changes to its folding technology that make this Android smartphone more appealing than its predecessor.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4
Best foldable under $1,000
Like:
- Better battery life than before
- Still, the best flip phone to get into foldable
- Water resistance.
Don’t like:
- Same cameras as the Galaxy Z Flip 3
Sony Xperia Pro
Best phone for creatives
- Professional-level video monitor features
- Robust utilitarian build
- Live broadcast streaming over 5G
- As a phone, it’s essentially the Sony Xperia 1 II
- Wished it recorded video via HDMI input.
Don’t like:
- The price is high, limiting its narrow appeal
- 2020 specs and Android 10
Nothing Phone 1
Like: • Flashing design • Solid performance • Affordable price Don’t like: • Cameras are only OK • Not yet available in the US.
If you’re looking for an Android phone on a budget, the Nothing Phone 1 is an excellent alternative to take into consideration because of its reasonable pricing, reliable performance, and adequate camera setup. But, this phone ups the ante with its collection of flashing LED lights on the back, which undoubtedly set it apart from its rivals.
Although we had a lot of fun examining it, there is one drawback: There are currently no plans to make the phone widely available in the US. It’s GSM-only, so it won’t function on Verizon, but you can get it unlocked on Amazon. Later this year, the Nothing Phone 2, the company’s newest phone, will arrive in the US.
